  • Established first Industrial Design Program in B.C. (1973) to focus on requirements of regional small and medium-sized manufacturers using local resources.
  • Developed co-operative manufacturing and training ventures with local wood, metal and plastic industries, research agencies and educational institutions.
  • Produced a series of educational products for young children: board games, analog/digital "Match-Box" and motor co-ordination toys (in co-operation with Vancouver Environmental Education Project).
  • Participated in forums and conferences (Habitat; Small Is Possible) relating to community economic development in B.C.
  • Supervised the production of videotapes (Made in B.C.; Design Analogy) that advocated design-based local manufacturing to develop economic diversity, employment opportunities and community stability.
  • Supervised a student RTA bookcase design project that used components produced by a broom handle manufacturer seeking to diversify its product line.
  • Organized two-week student study program with the Industrial Design Program, Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam (1974).
  • Member of the British Columbia Design Committee (BCIDC) 1968 - 1977
  • Developed, illustrated and published BCIT course materials: INED 575 Material Science, INED 535 Teaching Production, INED 515 Design, INED 731 Senior Wood and Composites.
  • Produced, directed and edited S VHS videotapes, The Ball Race (1990) and The 1991 Mousetrap Race (1992), documenting initiatives to develop student problem solving skills.
  • Wrote and managed production of TEG Times (a tabloid size newsletter distributed to B.C. schools), promoting technology, economic and design issues.
  • Liaised with local wood products industries (Surrey Veneer Ltd.; Merit Kitchens Ltd.; W.K. Industries Ltd.; Stork Craft Ltd.; etc.) to organize student visits and joint ventures.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and community groups on value-created issues.
  • Juror, Camosun College Fine Woodwork Exhibition.
