  • Custom-peeled alder veneer to produce various thicknesses of multi-layer plywood for prototype RTA furniture designs (in co-operation with Sauder Industries Ltd. and Ron Neilson, Forintek Canada Corp.).
  • Manufactured experimental parallel laminated veneer lumber from Douglas-fir veneer provided by Canadian Forest Products Ltd. and Richmond Plywood Ltd. (in co-operation with Sauder Industries Ltd.).
  • Evaluated the economic and design potential of "marginal" B.C. wood species: red alder, bigleaf maple, white birch, black cottonwood, western larch (in co-operation with Ron Neilson, Forintek Canada Corp.).
  • Supervised production of the first graduate thesis on videotape (about hardboard production) presented to UBC Faculty of Forestry; videotape was produced in co-operation with Canadian Forest Products Ltd.
  • Participated in forums and conferences (Habitat; Small Is Possible) relating to community economic development in B.C.
  • Supervised the production of videotapes (Made in B.C.; Design Analogy) that advocated design-based local manufacturing to develop economic diversity, employment opportunities and community stability.
  • Member of the British Columbia Design Committee (BCIDC) 1968 - 1977
  • Consulted on the proposed establishment of a furniture factory for Kootenay West Wood Design Ltd., Nelson.
  • Wrote and managed production of TEG Times (a tabloid size newsletter distributed to B.C. schools), promoting technology, economic and design issues.
  • Conducted survey of wood utilization in British Columbia K-12 schools that showed a consumption of 691,230 board feet in 1990/1991.
